Say cheers to a new year by licensing a new show! Check out these titles, newly available as of January from Concord Theatricals in the UK.

Bleachers by Noah Haidle
(Full-Length Play, Dramatic Comedy / 2w, 2m + ensemble)
It’s high school football season in America! While the team plays under the bright lights, four tuba players stuck in the back row wrestle with everything that doesn’t fit into a halftime show: ambition, grief, friendship, faith, love and the strange cruelty of small-town “normal.” Equal parts marching band comedy and raw confession, this funny, ferocious and flexible play is built for schools and young actors to adapt, using your own school’s name, mascot, fight song and rivals.

Eternal Life Part 1 by Nathan Alan Davis
(Full-Length Play, Dramatic Comedy / 2w, 3m)
Space travel, talking animals and a state-of-the-art home await an American family in their future. But when that future includes the promise of immortality, this family must wrestle with the life that happens along the way. A contemporary fable about wealth, death, our relationship with the natural world, parents and children.

For the Benefit of Doreen by David Tristram
(Full-Length Play, Satire/Political Satire / 3w, 3 any gender (adult))
Doreen Tipton, and her daughters Trojan, Tangerine and Taser, shot to infamy when “Doreen’s Story” went viral on social media, clocking up over a million hits virtually overnight. Soon, not having a job became a full-time career for the First Lady of the State, as Doreen became the first person ever to be diagnosed with Lazy Cow Syndrome. Documentaries, radio interviews, award-winning stage shows, books and even a movie followed, as the appetite for all things Doreen showed no signs of abating. This sizzling satire of modern Britain offers a wealth of opportunity for an evening of theatre which is totally unique, hilarious, thought-provoking and, most of all, fantastic fun to produce.

Grangeville by Samuel D. Hunter
(Full-Length Play, Drama / 2m)
Two estranged half brothers – one in Grangeville, Idaho; one in Amsterdam – reconnect virtually in discussions surrounding the care of their ailing mother. With his signature emotional breadth and depth, playwright Samuel D. Hunter expands on the brotherly estrangement narrative by integrating the effects of family trauma on spouses alongside the evergreen conversation of how adult children take care of their aging parents. A play about the fallibility of memory, the stories we tell to make sense of our suffering, and the complexity of forgiveness.

Jab by James McDermott – Available for Amateur Licensing only
(Full-Length Play, Drama / 1w, 1m)
Anne is tired. Tired of menopause. Tired of working in a dying NHS. And tired of her lazy sexist husband Don. But they’ve been together 29 years. They know each other inside out. They’ve survived so much. Then COVID-19 plunges the country into lockdown, forcing them to isolate together. As the world falls apart outside, Anne and Don’s marriage slowly falls apart inside. Inspired by true events, this dark comedy-drama explores power, gender, domestic violence, conspiracy theories, ignorance and the limits of love.

Malindadzimu by Mufaro Makubika – Available for Amateur Licensing only
(Full-Length Play, Drama / 3w, 2m)
For Faith and her teenage daughter Hope, it seems as though growing up inevitably means growing apart. When Faith makes the drastic decision to move the family back to her native Zimbabwe to start over, it’s home for her but not for Hope – at least, not on the surface. Will the powers that have drawn them back to their roots help them find each other and themselves? Delicate, witty and epic in equal measure, this saga journeys from Nottingham to Zimbabwe to explore a mother and daughter’s search for belonging, their struggle with a multicultural heritage, and a haunting history that cannot be ignored.

Moreno by Pravin Wilkins
(Full-Length Play, Drama / 4m)
August, 2016. The NFL is being shaken by Colin Kaepernick’s monumental decision. While other players join him in taking a knee, star running back Luis Moreno is all about his game – and his paycheck. When a destructive new reality hits close to home, Luis is forced to ask whether politics have a place on the field, and if he is willing to risk his career to take a stand for his own community.
