Step into Heathers the Musical’s “Candy Store,” where you’re in for the treat of your life. Based on the 1989 film, this show has everything you’d ever want in an ‘80s high school drama: humorous dialogue, a fun rock score, and an absolutely killer story.

If you think you knew everything about this Off-Broadway theatre cult classic hit, think again. Check out these ten fun facts that the Heathers would be proud of!

  1. In September of 2010, Heathers was originally performed as a concert which included a Broadway star-studded cast featuring Annaleigh Ashford, Jeremy Jordan, and James Snyder. (Source)

  2. Heathers received two Drama Desk nominations (Outstanding Music and Outstanding Actress in a Musical) and two Lucille Lortel nominations (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical and Outstanding Choreography). (Source)

  3. Writer Kevin Murphy was a producer of the original LA and NY productions of Heathers. He also provided lyrics and co-wrote the book for the stage musical Reefer Madness and was a producer on both the original Los Angeles and Off-Broadway productions. (Source)

  8. The character Veronica Sawyer is named after the Archie comics character Veronica and the Mark Twain character Tom Sawyer. (Source)
